Cookie Policy

We use a handful of cookies and browser-storage entries to make the site work and to learn what's helpful. Here's the rundown.

What is a cookie, exactly?

A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser so it can remember things between visits. We also use related browser storage APIs like localStorage, which we treat the same way in this policy: if it remembers something about you on your device, it counts.

What we set

  • Your cart & preferences. Products you've added to My Cart, your variant picks, per-item quantities, and your retailer selections for shopping lists. Stored in localStorage so your cart survives refreshes and tab changes.
  • Theme. Light or dark mode, so we don't flash the wrong one at you on every page load.
  • Session & functional cookies. Needed for the app to work — things like remembering you've dismissed a notice or accepted these policies.

Analytics & third-party tools

We use analytics and tag-management tools (currently Google Tag Manager, and whatever it decides to load) to understand how people use the site. These tools may set their own cookies or similar identifiers in your browser, which could be used by the provider for their own purposes under their own policies. That's just how the modern web works — almost every site you visit has a similar stack.

If you'd rather not be measured, you can block cookies or use a tracker-blocking extension. We won't try to defeat it.

Your options

  • Clear cookies and site data through your browser's settings. This will also clear your cart, theme choice, and any preferences saved on this device.
  • Use private / incognito mode if you don't want anything to stick around after your session.
  • Turn off third-party cookies in your browser — most of our core functionality will still work.

Use at your own risk

By using Build A BetterCart you accept that cookies and similar technologies will be set on your device, and that data about you may be collected by us and by the third parties we embed. If that's not for you, please don't use the site. See our Privacy Policy for more context and our Terms of Use for the full rulebook.

Changes

We may update this policy as we add or remove tools. When we do, the “Last updated” date at the top of the page will change.
